The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies’ undergraduate and graduate programs serve UW–Madison’s entire campus, touching nearly every school, college, and unit. An educational and research division of UW–Madison, we are an interdisciplinary community of knowledge and practice: artists and engineers, historians and chemists, sociologists and climate scientists, ecologists and hydrologists.
How your gifts make an impact
If you’re going to save the world, you have to see the world. Our top-tier classroom experience is just one piece of a Nelson education. We strive to get every student into the field — whether it’s restoring wetlands in rural Wisconsin or presenting research at conferences around the globe. But for many students, these opportunities can be financially out of reach. Travel funding ensures that access to professional growth is based on potential, not circumstance.
Why we need your support
This Fill the Hill, we’re raising funds to support student travel scholarships while also sustaining the broader work of the Nelson Institute. By making a gift today, in any amount, you’re directly helping students move from the classroom to collaborations that will shape their future — and the future of our planet. Today’s environmental challenges won’t wait, and neither can we. Join us in preparing the next generation of environmental leaders today.
