Whether they’re taking classes in literary studies, composition and rhetoric, creative writing, or English language and linguistics, our students develop skills in writing and critical thinking that prepare them for success in a range of careers. Badgers graduating from the Department of English go on to work in education, law, business, and more. Home to the Writing Center and the English as a Second Language Program, our department is a leader in teaching and writing excellence, contributing to high-quality education in every UW–Madison school and college. Every year, we offer more than 400 classes, teach more than 10,000 students, and train 50 writing fellows to be student instructors in courses across campus.
Gifts made in support of the English Department will be contributed to Department of English Fund at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
