For the past 100 years, the Department of Art History has worked to build visual literacy, historical and cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills in our students. At the same time, we instill in them a lifelong sense of wonder, awe, and curiosity about the world around them. These critical skills prepare our students to go on to navigate and question an ever-changing world. Our graduate students have had astonishing rates of professional success thanks to our faculty who operate at the cutting edge of the discipline, publishing field-changing books and articles while training our graduate students to operate at the same level.
The department has set lofty goals for itself and its students as we enter our next century. Your support will help us continue our quest to interpret the past and shape the future as we set our sights on becoming a top-ranking art history department.
