The Department of African Cultural Studies (ACS) provides research and teaching in the languages and expressive cultures of Africa and Africans around the world, and it is your contribution and commitment to the department that enables our students to work effectively and imaginatively across regions, languages, cultural forms, methodologies, and disciplines.
This year’s supporters will be the first to directly contribute to a new fund designated for student research support. In honor of Professor Emeritus Aliko Songolo for his many years of dedicated teaching and service to the Department of African Cultural Studies, ACS has created a $2,500 annual summer research award to be given to full-time graduate students or undergraduate majors in the department.
By contributing to this award fund, your gift will directly impact our students by making it possible for them to experience professional development opportunities including conferences, research funding, competitive scholarships, prize competitions, and study abroad programs. No matter the size of your gift, every donation makes a difference to our students.
Gifts made in support of the Department of African Cultural Studies will be contributed to the Aliko Songolo Student Research Award Fund at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
