Established in 1964, UW–Madison’s Department of Computer Sciences (CS) is the second-oldest computer science department in the nation. For 60 years, we’ve been educating and training Wisconsin’s top professionals in the field—today, we’re the most popular major on campus. In 2019, CS joined the Department of Statistics and the Information School (iSchool) to establish the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS).

How your gifts make an impact

As Wisconsin’s tech industry grows, so does its need for world-class computer science graduates. With your support, a computer science education remains rigorous, marketable, and accessible. Here are just a few of the ways your donation helps the next generation of computing professionals:

  • Supporting student organizations
  • Building community among our undergraduate and graduate students
  • Covering registration fees for national competitions and professional conferences
  • Providing scholarships, graduate fellowships, and summer research funding

Why we need your support

As state and federal sources of support for the university shrink, private support plays an increasingly critical role in maintaining this level of excellence. Your gift, of any size, will benefit students and ensure the computer sciences remains a top department.

Gifts made in support of the Department of Computer Sciences will be contributed to Department of Computer Sciences Annual Fund at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
