Thank you for your interest in supporting the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies! Allow us to introduce ourselves. An educational and research division of UW–Madison, the Nelson Institute is an interdisciplinary community of knowledge and practice: artists and engineers, historians and chemists, sociologists and climate scientists, ecologists and hydrologists. Our undergraduate and graduate programs serve the entire campus, touching nearly every school, college, and unit.
How your gifts make an impact
It’s easy to say, “Your gifts will change the world,” but when it comes to the Nelson Institute, we really mean it. Your gifts accelerate our mission to protect and preserve our planet by fostering the next generation of leaders across environmental sectors: from crane conservation in Cambodia to decarbonization pathways in Wisconsin to the links between the environment and human health worldwide. (These are all real student projects! Read more about what our students are doing at nelson.wisc.edu/news.)
Why we need your support
We think our planet is pretty great, and we hope you do, too. By making a gift in any amount — we’re experts at stretching a dollar! — you can help us stem the tide of global species extinction, reverse runaway climate change, and adapt to a changing planet by bringing justice, equity, and inclusivity to the forefront of environmental problem-solving.
Gifts made in support of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies will be contributed to the Environmental Futures Fund at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
